What is ITIL 4?

The ITIL 4 certification pathway image above shows the different modules a learner can study to reach an ITIL designation. For example, to be recognised as an ITIL Managing Professional, a learner would need to be certified in the four modules under the ITIL Managing Professional (MP) heading. That includes ITIL 4 Specialist: Create, Deliver & Support, ITIL 4 Specialist: Drive Stakeholder Value, ITIL 4 Specialist: High Velocity IT, and ITIL 4 Strategist: Direct, Plan & Improve. There are two more designations: ITIL Strategic Leader (SL) which would require a learner to be certified in two ITIL 4 modules, ITIL Leader: Digital & IT Strategy and ITIL Strategist: Direct, Plan & Improve. The final designation is ITIL Master, which would require a learner to be designated as both an ITIL Managing Professional (MP) and ITIL Strategic Leader (SL).

ITIL 4 Foundation is essential for anybody working in a service environment. ITIL is considered to be the ‘common language of IT’ and this course will cover everything a learner needs to ensure they have a solid foundation in Service Management. A learner is not required to have any prior certifications to attend this ITIL 4 Foundation course.

Suitable For:

This course will prove valuable to any individual involved in any area of IT. Whether that’s a technical role in a service desk environment, a managerial role leading teams, a project management, or relationship management role, ITIL provides a common language for all IT professionals.

If you are already familiar with ITIL, perhaps you may have previously completed the ITIL v3 Foundation course, or you’ve been working within an ITIL environment for a while, then this course would prove suitable. The main difference between this course and our 3 day ITIL course, is that many of the practical exercises are skipped in favour of concentrating on the theory for passing the exam.

If you are completely new to ITIL, then our 3 day course may be more suitable. Like this 2 day course, it covers everything you need to know in order to achieve the ITIL 4 Foundation Certification in Service Management plus much more. The 3 day course allows additional time to complete practical exercises with your trainer and fellow learners to really ensure your new knowledge stays with you.
